A delegation from the Republic of South Sudan is currently on a week-long study tour in Liberia to examine the country’s Public Financial Management (PFM) and Human Resource (HR) systems. The visit is aimed at learning from Liberia’s experiences and identifying potential best practices for implementation in South Sudan.
Led by Gatluak Gac Choul, Deputy Director of IFMIS at the Department of Treasury Operations, the nine-member delegation met with Liberia’s Acting Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Anthony G. Myers, and other senior officials. During the meeting, the delegation expressed interest in understanding Liberia’s approach to IFMIS, PFM, and HR reforms.
Both countries share a history of conflict and are keen to learn from each other’s experiences in rebuilding and reforming their financial and human resource systems. The study tour will involve meetings with key officials from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to discuss Liberia’s reforms and best practices.
The South Sudan delegation’s visit underscores the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in promoting effective financial and human resource management. By learning from Liberia’s experiences, South Sudan aims to strengthen its own systems and improve governance.
